Residential Rental Information

Residential Rental units in the City of Ashland are required to be registered with the Planning & Development Department (Ch. 845 - Residential Rental Registration). Registration is completed using the Rental Registration Form on the Permit Portal and submitting a $10 fee.

Rental properties are subject to the Property Maintenance Ordinance (Ch. 750 - Property Maintenance). Health and Building concerns within residential dwellings can be reported to the Planning & Zoning Department for investigation. Depending on the nature of the complaint, investigations are handled by the Ashland County Health Department, the Ashland Building Inspector, and the Ashland Fire Department.
