Short-Term Rentals
Short-Term Rentals are defined as a residential dwelling unit that is offered for rent for a fee and for fewer than 30 consecutive days. This does include the second unit of an owner-occupied duplex, mother-in-law apartments, and bed-and-breakfast establishments.
Short-Term Rentals are required to do the following:
- Completed Application
- Ashland County Tourist Rooming House License (If you do not have one please contact the Ashland County Health Department)
- WI Department of Revenue Seller’s Permit if the state requires it
- City of Ashland Accommodations/Room Tax permit (application is included and can be submitted at the same time as the Short-Term Rental application)
- Proof of property insurance for the property and commercial liability insurance for your short term rental business
- Information on any web-based booking services (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.) used for the property
- Site Plan, to scale, showing parking and driveways, all structures and outdoor recreational areas that guests will be allowed to use, including, but not limited to, deck/patio, barbeque grill, recreational fire, smoking area, or pool. It can be an aerial or satellite image with any of these features labeled
- Scaled floor plan of the home showing which rooms will be used as bedrooms by guests
- Copy of self-inspection findings (checklist from Fire Department which is attached and you would walk through your property with it and fill it out prior to having the Fire Department inspect)
- Copy of Fire Department Inspection findings (When done with the self-inspection checklist, you can contact the Ashland Fire Department to have an inspection done)
- State Lodging Establishment Inspection completed and dated within one year
- Initial application fee of $40.00
